As we have a weekend off from racing, we want to reintroduce our hardest working member of staff – Storming Ambition – aka ‘Stormy’ the yard hack.

Stormy was purchased from the breeze up sales back in 2015 as a two year old. He showed lots of promise but in three seasons of trying, failed to bring in any prize money. In an effort to remain on the yard, he quickly showed his transferable skills to ensure he had a roof over head.

His duties include:

• Trainers Hack
• Schooling young riders
• Lead horse
• Teaching young horses to jump from the gates
• Getting young hurdlers off the ground
• Accompanying bad travellers to the races
• Ponying horses onto gallops
• Anything else as required

Stormy is a true character and his most notable achievement was winning the Newmarket Thoroughbred Hacks class as a 4yo in 2017. Which yielded prize winnings of £50. So he’s won more money showing than in racing!
