Hi all,

We have Mick’s Spirit running today in the 4.20 at Chester. We travelled up yesterday as it is a long journey from Newmarket. Mick is a stalwart on the AW winning 7 races on that surface but only has a few places to his name on turf. He has had a short break since last running in April but seems fit and well on his home work. He is a sprinter that needs a bend which is why we have been very keen to try him here at Chester. We had a small amount of rain last night which has moved the ground officially to good – good to soft in places, which should be ideal for him.

Look out for my going report once I have been on the track with my stick. Mick is a horse that likes to be up there but recently he has been missing the break. We have done some stalls work with him at home practicing taking the blind off when the gates open to assist with him jumping out. This is to prevent him anticipating the gates opening. It has worked at home let’s hope he can get out on terms today ! There is plenty of pace in the race today so even if he breaks on terms he is going to find it difficult from his wide draw which is a huge disadvantage to his chance today.
